Dark chocolate may actually keep you calm, says a new study from the Swinburne University of Technology.

What’s the reason for the cocoa calm effect? Polyphenols found naturally in dark chocolate respond to brain receptors associated with anxiety. Do get the most calm from your chocolate, the darker, the better. The higher content of cocoa in the bar, the more polyphenols it contains.

Angelina Jolie just revealed she had a double mastectomy. In this New York Times article, Jolie shares that her mother died from a lengthy battle with cancer at just 56 years old. Jolie was a carrier of the “faulty” BRCA1 gene, which increases the risk for developing cancer exponentially.

After seeing the toll cancer took on her mother, Jolie made the difficult decision to undergo a double mastectomy. In the article, she discusses the entire process that spans three months. But what she does even more is discuss the risk factors and necessity of early detection and genetic screenings to make the most educated decisions about one’s body.

$443,360 is a good chunk of change. It’s also the average amount of money the average full-time working woman will miss out on in 40 years of work due to the gender wage gap.

What this means is that women would have to work 12 years longer than men just to break even, according to an April report from the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC).

NWLC calculated the long-term effect of the wage gap by multiplying $11,084 (the earnings gap between full-time working women and men in 2011, as estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau) by 40 (the presumed length of a typical career).

For Wall Street Journal reporters, being sexy is a job requirement. So said a Monday memo from deputy editor in chief Matt Murray and head of video operations Chris Cramer, which reinforced that those who work for WSJ should obviously be in-the-know on international business, economics and current events. However, even more pressing, they must also look damn good while knowing them.

Part of the memo read, “We want to remind those appearing on camera that you should take into consideration your appearance both in terms of journalistic content and on-air presentation.”

They even encouraged employees to visit the resident makeup artist before appearing on screen. ”You want the spotlight focused on your stellar journalism – not shining off your forehead.”
